Tonight, at ASÉ Wrestling's one-year anniversary show in Charlotte, North Carolina, Darius Carter defeated Darius Lockhart in the finals of the ASÉ Wrestling Men's Championship tournament to become their first Champion.

The road to that victory, which saw Carter systematically demolish Lockhart (who was the first person to bleed in the history of ASÉ), was an interesting one, primarily because Carter didn't even qualify.

Truth be told [Ed. note: REAL DEAL SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT], this may all be Trever Aeon's fault. After Billy Dixon beat Aeon in the first round of the tournament, Knull and Reyhan Inteus re-ignited their feud, with Joe Black then making his ASÉ debut as part of whatever collective Aeon seems to be putting together. Jordan Holt, who had previously qualified for the first round of the tournament, also tried to help, but ended up being injured and removed from the tournament, giving Carter a way to enter the tournament without qualifying.

Now in the tournament, Carter took out young Darian Bengston in the first round, later explaining to Gerard Bonner that "this all belongs to me" and that he would "correct the course of history" during the tournament. In his semi-finals match, Carter beat his long-time rival Dixon, although calling that a "match" may not be fair. Carter attacked Dixon during his entrance, then forced Nadiah Hunter to declare him the victor. [Ed. note: For what it's worth, ASÉ Commissioner Caprice Coleman did allow Carter to advance in the tournament, via bye; Lockhart won his way to the finals, and Coleman didn't want to end the night without declaring a champion.] This lead to Carter and Lockhart's match in the finals; these two previously fought back in February at ASÉxBHM in a grudge match that Lockhart won, but this was a different bout entirely.

ASÉ Wrestling

Carter, No. 7 on the 2024 #BRP50 list, brought the pain, using his wrestling acumen (and affinity for the ultraviolence) to beat Lockhart for the title that Lockhart helped design, which is deep. Some may even say he stole the Men's Championship. [Ed note: Just so we're clear, BRP isn't saying that. Some may, though.] If we're keeping it a buck, while Carter definitely wasn't on the card before the show started, he somehow found a way to make the one-year anniversary of ASÉ about him, although this first year of ASÉ really has revolved around Darius Carter, right? Carter defeated Jonathan Gresham at ASÉ 1 on December 1, 2023, and while he lost to Lockhart in the main event of ASÉxBHM, Carter beat Sonny Kiss at ASÉ Cosmos in April 2024, then beat Dixon via DQ at ASÉ 4. Carter didn't show up at Smile, ASÉ Is With You! in September, yet the unstoppable "All Father" still found a way to show and prove why he is called Wrestling's Greatest Prize by acquiring the ASÉ Men's Championship. [Ed note: There's a reason we call him Darius Prime.]

How will Lockhart, Dixon, Coleman, and/or ASÉ respond to Carter's title win? That remains to be seen; they did announce that they will be bringing episodic ASÉ to their YouTube page starting January 9—which Lockhart hipped us to back in November—and they will be hitting Vegas for Mania Weekend! Until then, bask in the glory that is Darius Carter atop the ASÉ mountain.
